busy busy

Just a short post. So busy at work with marking and so on, extra time at the computer is not my favourite pastime at the moment.

We have finished home study yay! Bonnie has gone off to write the prospective adopters report and left us with a list of things to get done before approval panel including getting a fireguard, batteries for the smoke alarms (they were working a month ago-honest!), cupboard and drawer locks, medicine cabinet etc... And we have to do a one page flyer to start sending out to social workers. This consists of a photo of the three of us followed by 3-500 words telling the world all about us! What to say.....

Oh, and the carpenter started on the bedroom today so I am feeling hopeful that we might actually get it done before panel!

  1. We've been told there's no point in getting the home safety things done - if you had a 4 year old placed for example cupboard locks or a fire guard would be pointless! We have just been given a list of probable things to do (though we DO need to get our banisters fixed as they are actually not safe for adults either)

  2. oooh exciting movement on the adoption front then, lovely!

I agree with DrSpouse about the drawer locks, etc. our friends are adopting a six year old boy and don't have to do half the things we do because our youngest will be 18 months. But yes batteries for smoke alarms and medicine cabinets are all basic and sensible things to do regardless :)

As regards what to say about yourselves, if you need some hints let me know and I can tell you what we put in ours!

A brilliant feeling isn't it, having finished the home study and not long now to panel, have you got a date yet? I can't remember.
